About us
Where you'll findyour people in Oslo.
MSS started in 1995, when a few students wanted somewhere on campus to pray and meet. Thirty years later we are still at the University of Oslo, and still growing.
We run a weekly Quran halaqa for sisters and our own library, Al-Maktabah, free for members to borrow from. Through the year there is the Scandinavian Quran Competition, Ramadan iftars, socials, cabin trips, and friends you keep after you graduate.
First week in Oslo or final year, you are welcome.
وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَىٰ

An open letter
A letter from us to you.
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته،
Stepping onto campus for the first time can feel overwhelming. So many new faces, so many new impressions.
It's exciting and a little daunting at the same time, especially as a young Muslim who doesn't always fit in.
That's why we're here. Muslimsk Studentsamfunn (MSS) was started so Muslim students in Oslo have a place to meet and belong.
We work with the university and with mosques around Oslo, so you always have somewhere you feel at home. We'd love to tell you more in person.
Come find us at our events, at the Jumu'ah prayers we host, in the prayer room, or just chilling by the fountain.
And look forward to Ramadan. It might not beat your mum's cooking or family iftars, but our community iftars, with lectures, activities, and amazing food, are a pretty good runner-up.
Our door is always open, and we can't wait to meet you, in shaa' Allah.
What we do
Where to start.
Most people come for the company first: cabin trips, iftars, football, a room where you are not the only Muslim. The rest follows from there.
